Serena Rajabiun PhD. serves as Board Member of Small & Gutsy and is a Health Services Researcher and Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell and Adjunct Research Assistant Professor at the Center for Innovation in Social Work in Health at Boston University School of Social Work. Her primary interests are addressing the social, cultural, and economic determinants of health and redesigning health care systems to be culturally responsive and patient centered. Her work includes projects focused on maternal and child health and nutrition and HIV prevention, care and treatment in the United States and international settings. Serena received her doctorate from Boston University and master’s degrees in Public Health and International Affairs from Johns Hopkins University. She enjoys teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in public health and was awarded the 2022 Teaching Excellence award by her department. In her free time, Serena enjoys hiking, skiing, tennis and traveling with her family.
